My prayers are with the monks in Burma and Aung San Suu Kyi. I pray that God might break the grip of evil on this country.

I echo your concern for Burma - it's a shocking situation.
Theological Question: Assuming that God wishes to respect our free will (something He appears to have done since the Garden of Eden), how could He intervene?

Peter, thanks for stopping by and really good question! I immediately want to say that I don't know, but that praying makes me feel better and identify with people I can't help. Actually there's more.. I have a 'view' which I wear, but like all clothes does not suit every situation - so I am not entirely happy with. I will think about how to describe this and get back to you.

Perhaps it's a helpful thing to be able to hold multiple (and possibly contradictory) world views at the same time? It may be entirely necessary in order to "see it" from the other guy's perspective. Why is there such pressure to nail one's colours to the mast? I think I'll stick mine up with velcro ;-)
There's a Goucho Marx quote on the wall of the office here - "Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others."
